During Medical School Mr Freedman completed a rotation at Harvard Medical School and the renowned Massachusetts General Hospital.

Orthopaedic Surgery Specialisation, FRACS FAOrthA
Once Mr Freedman finished Medical School, he trained as an orthopaedic surgeon through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He rotated through multiple hospitals, including the Alfred, Melbourne’s premier Trauma Hospital.

2012
International Fellowships
Mr Freedman received a scholarship from the Arthritis Foundation to complete a fellowship at The University Hospital, Coventry UK, to train with Professor Damian Griffin, a world-renowned expert in Hip Arthroscopy and Hip Preservation surgery.

2013
Clinique du Sport Paris
Mr Freedman received a prestigious fellowship from the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Trauma (EFORT) to undertake a fellowship with Dr Frederic Laude – the world famous surgeon who developed the Direct Anterior Approach for Total Hip Replacement.

Mr Freedman has completed fellowships at renowned hospitals in Paris, the UK, and the USA, studying under specialists in the orthopaedic field.
Internationally Educated
Mr Freedman has completed training under some of Europe’s most highly regarded hip surgeons in the UK and Paris. Mr Freedman has passed the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) and is also registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) of the UK.

Mr Freedman’s Expertise
Mr Ilan Freedman brings a wealth of local and international teaching experience to his practice. He trained in Australia, the UK and France, has visited several prominent colleges in the United States and also regularly attends major orthopaedic conferences to present his research.
He is a globally recognised Reference Centre for training surgeons in Anterior Approach Hip Replacement and Kinematic Alignment Knee Replacement and has also been a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Warwick, UK and a Clinical Lecturer & Tutor at the University of Melbourne School of Medicine.
Mr Freedman consults to orthopaedic industry on improving implants and orthopaedic techniques and stays abreast of the latest technologies. He was a pioneer in performing a patient-specific knee replacement using a 3D-printed custom implant. This ground-breaking procedure marked a significant advancement in personalised orthopaedic care, showcasing Mr Freedman’s commitment to innovative surgical techniques.
