The Specialist Anaesthetist who administers anaesthesia for your surgery is a critical member of the surgical team. He/she is a highly trained medical specialist who is entrusted to administer your anaesthetic and will also coordinate your preoperative medical care and post operative pain management. Your anaesthetist will assess you and advise as to the safest and most appropriate form of anaesthesia for your surgery (for example General Anaesthetic vs Regional/Spinal/Epidural Anaesthesia)
As expert anaesthesia is such a critical aspect for safe and comfortable surgery, Mr Freedman is very selective as to which Anaesthetists look after his patients.
For most surgeries, the Anaesthetist for your procedure will be either Dr Jane Fitzgerald or Dr Mark Freedman. If Dr Fitzgerald or Dr Freedman are not available, another suitable Specialist Anaesthetist will be organised for your surgery.
You will be informed in advance regarding who the anaesthetist will be for your surgery. You will an opportunity to discuss the medical aspects of your anaesthetic as well as any fees associated with the anaesthetic service. Please bring any medical and anaesthetic history to the attention of the anaesthetist.
